On a lighter note...

This might possibly be the funniest political satire sight we've seen in a long time. If you're a political junkie like us and need a good laugh check out The Arizona Report. One of our staffers is still ROTFL over this one.

AZGOP HOLDS FIRST ANNUAL CAMPAIGN "BOOT CAMP"

GOPAC holds training seminar for a standing room only crowd

PHOENIX, AZ – The Arizona Republican Party held a successful campaign school on Saturday, presented by the nationally acclaimed Republican training program, GOPAC. It was a full house, packed with Republican candidates, elected officials, campaign managers, party faithful, and staff as the AZGOP hosted veteran Republican operatives, Ed Brookover, David Avella, and Kevin McNeill. Arizona House Speaker Jim Weiers and Maricopa County Treasurer David Schweikert also spoke.

The in depth training program included detailed presentations on developing a campaign plan, fundraising, communication and media strategies, election law, and pro-business issues.

“This is the first step for our candidates and grassroots as we move forward to win back control of Congress, win a veto proof majority in both houses of the state legislature, keep a Republican residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and when we’re done, we’ll be in a position to reclaim the Governor’s mansion, er, Governor’s condo, as our own in 2010,” said Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party.

Pullen continued, “We’re going to be running aggressive campaigns across Arizona in 2008 and we will utilize every tool at our disposal to roll back the Democrats’ 2006 gains. I hope the Democrats are prepared for the Republican tsunami that’s about to hit them.”

“The Arizona Republican Party is providing an invaluable resource to its candidates with this early training on how to run for office,” said David Avella, Senior Advisor to GOPAC. “These early efforts will prove a major boost to electing Republicans across the state.”

GOPAC is the premier Republican Education and Training Center. Chairman Michael Steele is focusing the resources of GOPAC to build a farm team of state and local candidates across the country.

GRASSROOTS ACTION ALERT

Dear Friends,

In 96 hours, the Senate is due to take up the comprehensive immigration reform bill again. Two weeks ago, because of your calls, emails, faxes and letters, two things happened:

First, our collective voices were heard and we won the first round by stopping passage of this bill in the Democrat-controlled US Senate. Second, we demonstrated to ourselves, to other state Republican parties, to our national party and to the rest of the nation that we are strongest when we unite behind the will of the American people, behind the rule of law, behind the promises we have already made and must now keep. Today, we are a stronger party than before because our voice has grown with new Arizona Republican voters, new donors and new activists within our ranks!

Please, call (202) 224-3121 and tell Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, Trent Lott, Mitch McConnell and the rest of the US Senate that we need real border security and real immigration reform… but this bill just isn’t it.

Then, please CLICK HERE and send a make a secure online donation today to YOUR ARIZONA REPUBLICAN PARTY. To keep our voices heard loud and clear, YOUR party needs YOUR support today. Your contribution of $25, $50, $75, $100 or even $150 today will go a long way in helping us win this fight.. This is our party, our state and our nation – and all three are worth fighting for.

Thank you in advance for your generous support!

MR. PULLEN GOES TO NEW YORK

AZGOP chief addresses “Monday Meeting” in New York City

NEW YORK, NY – Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, brought the fight to win back Congressional District 5 and Congressional District 8 to New York as he told major donors and contributors of the Republican Party that now is the time to start funding efforts to retake Congress in 2008.

To the crowd of more than 100 businessman and women of “The Monday Meeting,” Pullen said, “Tonight, I am reaffirming the Republican Party’s commitment to the business community. Because of you, America is the greatest nation in the world, and through your efforts we serve as a beacon of hope, liberty, and prosperity across the globe.”

Pullen continued, “The battle to retake the House of Representatives starts in Arizona. We have two of the ten top targeted seats ripe for pickup. We are already interviewing and screening candidates and gearing up our election operations. Together, with your help, we can fight and win back Congress and put far more responsible people in charge in 2008.”

The Monday Meeting was founded by Mallory Factor and James Higgins in February of 2002 and has grown rapidly over the past five years. The Monday Meeting is the premier forum of political discussion for the center-right coalition in the New York area. Regular participants in The Monday Meeting include major donors to candidates and causes, leaders in the Republican Party and the Conservative Movement, media, authors, representatives of think tanks, political clubs, and public policy groups. The Monday Meeting takes place once a month from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in midtown Manhattan and attendance is by invitation only.

LATEST POLL: CLINTON CAN’T COMPETE WITH GOP FRONTRUNNERS

PHOENIX, AZ – Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party was very pleased with the results of a new Los Angeles Times - Bloomberg poll showing that Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, or John McCain would best Hillary Clinton in a head to head match up in the race for president.

“I think that Americans have come to see that it’s Republican ideas, leadership, and vision that provide the best opportunity to move America forward,” said Pullen. “While Hillary Clinton and her Democrat rivals continue to play the politics of personal destruction and cater to the extremist wing of the Democrat Party, it’s the Republican candidates that are actively putting forth constructive solutions to solve the problems of today and tomorrow.”

Pullen continued, “We live in a turbulent time, and we need strong vision, character, and unwavering leadership to guide our great nation through yet another crossroads of history. Hillary Clinton and the rest of the Democrats just do not have the talent, ability, or fortitude to ensure America’s prominence endures.”

PULLEN TO REID: IT'S TIME FOR YOU TO GO

PHOENIX, AZ – “Harry Reid does not believe our men and women in uniform can win in Iraq. He had the audacity to call General Petraeus and General Pace, two true American heroes, ‘incompetent’. He should step down immediately as Democrat majority leader of the U.S. Senate,” said Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party. “Senator Reid is in such a hurry to surrender in Iraq, he hasn’t even given the new American plan a chance to work. This isn’t leadership; it’s politics. And the kind of politics Senator Reid is playing is putting American lives at terrible risk.

Pullen continued, “’Americans are growing weary of Mr. Reid’s inflammatory and defeatist rhetoric. He isn’t preaching for peace, which we all pray for. Senator Reid is preying on the worst fears of every voter with the ghoulish hope that it will protect his marginal Senate majority.

“In their short time in the majority, Senate Majority Leader Reid, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Congressional Democrats have admitted defeat, negotiated with state sponsors of terrorism, told the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and guardsmen serving valiantly overseas that the job they are doing isn’t good enough, and created a great divide among the American people,” Pullen said. “They continue to cut-and-run at every turn, except from the corrupt special interests and morally-bankrupt political games that brought them to power last year.

“The American people don’t surrender to terrorism or fear, and neither should our elected leaders,” Pullen said. “Mr. Reid, it’s time for you to step down because your fitness to lead has been exhausted. Your comments border on treasonous and it’s time for you to go.”

AZGOP TO GIFFORDS: KNOCK OFF YOUR DOUBLESPEAK

Pullen says Giffords is being disingenuous

“Democrats campaigned on a message that talked about change. And we specified a variety of issues that we were going to move within the first 100 legislative hours of the year. And so far, we've begun with ethics reform, lobbying reform, earmark reform. That was the very first piece of legislation that went through, and had bipartisan support.” (Gabrielle Giffords - Arizona Daily Star, 1/21/07)

PHOENIX, AZ – “Gabrielle Giffords is being disingenuous with the people that elected her to Congress,” said Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party. “Five months ago, Ms. Giffords talked about change and reform specifically on the earmark process. Today, Congressional Democrats like Giffords are turning their back on the voters who elected them. Once again, a Giffords campaign promise has turned out to be just an empty promise.”

Pullen Continued, “Fresh off their historic vote to pass the largest tax increase in American history, Democrats are now creating a secret slush fund for earmarks devoid of public scrutiny, with no oversight, and without accountability.

“It’s antics like this that have caused Congress under the Democrats to have record low approval ratings. Ms. Giffords ought to start representing the interests of the people who elected her and not the special interests and lobbyists in Washington. If she doesn’t start listening to her district instead of Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton, she’s going to find herself out of a job,” concluded Pullen.

AZGOP THANKFUL TO HAVE JAN BREWER ON THE JOB

Pullen lauds Brewer for taking aim at fraudulent tactics by Democrat front group

PHOENIX, AZ – Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party, voiced his strong support for Arizona Secretary of State Jan Brewer’s chastising of a Democrat front organization which was named in a complaint for illegal and deceptive petition circulating practices.

“As usual, the Democrats are using fraudulent tactics to advance their own agenda while deceiving Arizona’s voters in the process,” charged Pullen. “It seems typical that a group heavily funded by past Democrat chair and failed U.S. Senate candidate Jim Pederson would use deceptive tactics to try and change the rules of the redistricting process.”

Pullen continued, “Rather than trying to win elections fairly, the Democrats are seeking to change the rules of Arizona’s redistricting process. Rather than explaining to voters what their initiative is about and why they need signatures, Democrats are making false claims that the initiative is for lower gas prices. This is fraud, plain and simple.

“We are lucky to have an able and effective Secretary of State who, when this matter was brought to her attention, acted swiftly and decisively. I want to thank Secretary Brewer for her fairness, her determination, and her willingness to take action. She is working tirelessly to keep our political process fair in Arizona and free from those who seek to manipulate it for their personal gain.”

Sec. of State Brewer Angered by Deceptive Petition Gathering

Urges Proposed Initiative to Stop Circulators from Misleading Voters

PHOENIX – Secretary of State Jan Brewer last week fired off a strong letter to leaders of a citizen initiative effort over reports of deceptive practices by petition circulators misrepresenting voters about the substance of their petition. Sec. Brewer’s letter to Ken Clark, Chairman of Fair Districts, Fair Elections – whose proposed initiative specifically deals with redistricting – expressed major concern over claims that circulators were collecting signatures over lower gas prices.

“This blatant bait and switch tactic of luring voters to sign petitions by misrepresenting the substance of the petitions is dishonest and deceptive,” stated Secretary of State Brewer, “I hope you will take steps to end this practice and instruct your circulators to be candid and honest with the voters about what you are asking them to sign.”

The letter came on the heels of complaints about such practices which were called in to the Secretary of State’s Election office as well as the Maricopa County Election office.

Secretary of State Brewer pointed out that Arizona law requires each petition to contain a full and correct copy of the measure attached to the petition along with summary description language on the petition itself. Secretary Brewer went on to encourage voters to carefully read the summary language and attachment prior to signing their name to any petition.

“I urge voters to carefully read the full text of the petition prior to signing them,” added Secretary Brewer, “if the full text is not being provided, I encourage voters to report such violations to my office immediately.”
