More on Mitchell and Murtha...

From the NRCC...

Mitchell Votes to Give Murtha a
Pass on Ethical Breach

Voting in lock-step with the Democrat leadership, Mitchell’s so-called commitment to reform goes by the wayside

WASHINGTON – In his first opportunity to put partisan politics aside for the sake of cleaning up the mess in Washington, Harry Mitchell went back on his word today by voting to give John Murtha a pass on a significant ethical breach. Last week, Murtha threatened to cut off earmarks for not ONE, but TWO members of Congress who voted against a Murtha-sponsored project that has been deemed wasteful and a “boondoggle.”

MITCHELL FLASHBACK:

"A growing sense of corruption and distrust in our nation’s capitol has undermined our confidence in our federal government. The people deserve to have leaders in Washington that they can trust."

(Press Release, 3/26/2006)

Today, Mitchell voted to KILL a resolution that called for the reprimand of Murtha’s actions.

The Associated Press has the story:

“Murtha has not disputed a Republican claim that he stormed across the House floor May 17 to confront Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich. Rogers had tried unsuccessfully to strike a $23 million Murtha earmark…”

“In a House speech Monday, Rogers said Murtha threatened him by saying, ‘you will not get any earmarks now and forever.’” (AP, 5/22/07)

Harry Mitchell was given an opportunity to stand up to unethical behavior in Washington, but instead he chose to advance the interests of John Murtha, Nancy Pelosi and the Democrat leadership.

Giffords, Mitchell Give Murtha a Pass

Gabrielle Giffords and Harry Mitchell both voted to give fellow Democrat Jack Murtha a free pass on threatening fellow members of Congress. The National Republican Congressional Committee put out this great video highlighting Murtha's antics and showing how the Democrats continue to cover for him.

29% Approval Rating for Congress

Well it looks like the Democrat Congress has managed to land itself a 29% approval rating according to Gallup. Of course when you're raising taxes, surrendering in Iraq, and spending pork like it is going out of style, it's only a matter time before the American people will reject you. SAY WHAT? NOT A HUGE TERRORIST PRESENCE IN IRAQ?

Reid declares war is lost while Giffords implies mission accomplished

PHOENIX, AZ – Randy Pullen, chairman of Arizona Republican Party blasted Gabrielle Giffords for her comments in the Douglas Daily Dispatch. Giffords is quoted as saying, "There is not a huge terrorist presence in Iraq." See: link

“On one hand we have Harry Reid saying the war is lost, on the other hand we have Gabrielle Giffords saying that there isn’t much of a terrorism problem in Iraq and therefore, mission accomplished,” said Pullen. “The Democrats can’t even agree on Iraq, yet they are trying to dictate strategy from Washington to the generals in the field. It makes you wonder who exactly Harry Reid surrendered to.” Pullen continued, “Gabrielle Giffords campaigned as a moderate Democrat but her voting record doesn’t match her campaign rhetoric and her actions are contrary to her campaign promises.”

“I’ll be happy in January of 2009 when I can safely say that there is not a huge Giffords presence in Arizona,” quipped Pullen.

Giffords - "...not a huge terrorist problem in Iraq"

Kudos to the Arizona 8th blog for exposing Gabrielle Giffords for her inability to grasp reality.

Citing the Douglas Daily Dispatch we see our favorite "Blue Dog" Democrat expound upon her vast international relations expertise with quotes like:

While there are terrorists in Iraq, Giffords, D-Ariz., said Wednesday that they are less of a problem than places where threats are located or growing. "There is not a huge terrorist presence in Iraq," Giffords said during a telephone interview with Wick News Service.

She made her comments while waiting for the roll call vote in the House on the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Health and Iraq Accountability Act - the bill commonly referred to as the Iraq supplemental. She voted for the act, which also provides funds to support the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan. She also emphasized that the supplemental calls for a goal to start leaving Iraq later this year, with a deployment of combat troops by early next year.

Excuse me?  Not a huge terrorist presence in Iraq? What is Gabby smoking? Allow us to politely disagree. Arizona 8th did a very nice job of compiling a list of incidents of terrorism in Iraq since January of this year.  Check out their site: http://arizonaeighth.blogspot.com/. It looks to us that Gabby may be lost in space on this one.

Good Grief...

Just when you thought they couldn't get any loonier, Congressional Democrats now want to divert intelligence funds to study Global Warming. From the Washington Times:

"Our job is to steal secrets," said Rep. Peter Hoekstra of Michigan, the ranking Republican on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.     "There are all kinds of people analyzing global warming, the Democrats even have a special committee on this. There's no value added by the intelligence community here; they have no special expertise, and this takes money and resources away from other threats."

"It's hard to imagine how anyone could believe that climate change represents a more clear and present danger to the United States than radical Islamic terrorists armed with bombs, but that's essentially what Democrats have concluded in this bill,' said Brian Kennedy, a spokesman for Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican.

So funds that were meant to hunt down terrorists, keep America safe from attack, and support our servicemen and women overseas are being used to study...Global Warming?   Al Gore would be proud. Not to mention that the federal government also spends $6.5 billion annually on studies, issues, and initiatives related to global warming.
