Dems failure to help AZ working families an “inconvenient truth”
Phoenix, AZ – “With gas prices skyrocketing and no end in sight, it’s high time that Governor Napolitano proposed a reduction in the state’s nineteen cent per gallon gas tax,” said Randy Pullen, chairman of the Arizona Republican Party. “The current gas tax structure will have dramatic negative impact on the state’s economic health and general well being if gasoline continues to rise at a record pace.”
Pullen continued, “There are many commuters in the state that can’t wait for relief. There are many people that are quickly going to have to choose between filling their tanks or putting food on their dinner tables. The Democrats campaigned last year with promises to bring relief to rising gas taxes. Where is it? When the campaigns ended, all that was left was the echoes of Democrats’ empty promises.
“It was Jimmy Carter and the Congressional Democrats that mismanaged the U.S. economy in the late 1970’s leading to out of control inflation, economic stagflation, skyrocketing gas prices, fuel shortages, and interest rates that were through the roof. Now, nearly 30 years later, Janet Napolitano, Harry Mitchell, Gabrielle Giffords, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton and Harry Reid seem prepared to turn back the clock and force America to relive that national nightmare.
“The Democrat majority won’t work with us to reduce American dependence on foreign oil by building new refineries. They won’t work with us to expand America’s own domestic oil production. They won’t work with us to create new oil industry jobs because they know that once a voter enters the middle class, there’s an increasing likelihood they will no longer vote Democrat any longer.
"The Democrat Congress has no plans to solve our energy woes because it’s not in their interest to solve such problems, and that’s a very ‘inconvenient truth’ to many working Arizona families,” Pullen said. “I hope voters will take notice and work with Republican leaders at the state and federal level this year and next. Together we can make real changes so to put the American dream within reach to more Arizonans.”
